Beam Bridges
This is the most simple type of bridge. The bridge deck is held up with two or more piles. Beam bridges are short bridges. The bottom of the deck is held in tension, while the top is in compression. The piles are compressed to the ground, transferring force there. Concrete poured around steel rods is the most common modern way to make piles for a beam bridge.
